Please take a moment to review the attached PDF guide "Parent Playbook". A parent or legal guardian must create an account first and then add your children. When adding your children, you must use their Greenwich Public School email. Once this is done and verified, and a sport is selected, then both parent and student must log in to fill and sign their document. If you have any questions or encounter issues during the registration process, there is a “Get Help” button at the bottom of the page. We encourage you to complete the fall sports registration as soon as possible to ensure your student-athlete’s participation in the upcoming season. Please remember that you can only try out for one sport per season.

COMPETITIVE SPORTS PROGRAM

COMPETITIVE SPORTS PROGRAM

* Traditional sports teams. Students try-out for the team. Teams play other public and private middle schools in town.

* Commitment is 4 days a week. M, T, Th and Friday from 2:45-4:30 for practices. Games will go longer than 4:30. There are NO after school activities on Wednesdays (teacher meetings)

* Students must have their own transportation since practices and games will go later than the late bus. On game days transportation is provided to and from games back to CMS.

* YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR CHILD to participate in a competitive sports program through Final Forms

Each season has a registration and try-out window. All students who want to try-out for a competitive sport need to register on Final Forms and have an updated physical on file, submitted to sportsphysicalscms@greenwich.k12.ct.us Participants are expected to attend all tryout dates. If a student is not registered by the deadline on Final Forms, they will not be able to try-out. Please use the links in the FORMS section below to complete the registration.

Please send a copy to Nancy_tarantino@greenwich.k12.ct.us if your child is on a sports team and is attending an away game and will not return to school on the bus.

FinalForms

The GPS Athletic Department has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service, to manage athletic participation. All new and returning student-athletes must register with a parent/guardian through FinalForms prior to tryouts or participation.

Click on the Parent Playbook for directions on how to register in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom in FinalForms and click “Use Support”.

Initial registration will take 15-20 minutes. Registering returning athletes can be completed in 5-10 minutes as FinalForms saves data season-to-season and year-to-year. Parents should have information for physician, dentist, emergency contacts, insurance (if applicable), and a current State of CT Health Assessment Record (HAR) form ready for the registration process. The HAR can be found on GPS Health Forms and Immunizations.

Please register early, as it will take 24-48 hours for the Health Office to process your registration. You may only register for one sport each season. There is no cost to register.

INTRAMURALS

INTRAMURALS

* Drop in program after school from 2:45-4:00 (students will be released in time for the late bus).

* All equipment is provided

* Activities change each season

* Free of charge and NO sign-up necessary. Drop in on the days that work for you.

* Supervised by CMS teachers

Intramurals: One of the main objectives of intramurals is to provide every student with the opportunity to play and enjoy various sports and leisure activities, under the supervision of a certified staff member. Students can come when they choose. There are no try-outs. Basic instruction is given. The primary focus is student centered and it is purely recreational. All activities are free!

PARENT PICK UP POLICY

Competitive Team and Intramural Parent Pick Up Policy

At this time we must enforce the expectations for parent pick up at the end of practices/games. Coaches will inform their teams of planned ending as posted on the schedule (Central website) times. If there is a change to be made, parents and players will be informed ahead of time through REMIND and asked to make any necessary arrangements.

We will not leave athletes unsupervised at the end of practice/games and therefore our expectation is that they will be picked up within a 15 minute window from the end of the scheduled practice/ game ending time. Asking our coaches to stay beyond that time frame is unfair as we have had coaches here waiting for very late parents for over 45 minutes and this cannot continue. The three middle schools have agreed on this policy and it will be enforced throughout. If the athlete is not picked up in the 15 minute time frame two times, they will be unable to continue with the team for the full practice/game time and will be asked to leave for the late bus. This will have a considerably negative impact on their “game time” and participation on the team. A third infraction may be grounds for removal from the team.

(Weather conditions or coach’s illness may fall under the category of “emergency” schedule changes and will allow for some flexibility in pick up arrangements)
